Whether you’re a seasoned pro or fresh out of university, you’ll find a career in finance and internal audit within Canada’s federal public service challenging and inspiring.

Financial management and internal audit specialists make a key contribution to shaping a world-class public service that delivers value for money to Canadians. You can find them in every department across the government, providing strategic advice to enhance the effectiveness, transparency, and accountability of programs and spending.

The Office of the Comptroller General facilitates recruitment and development programs for the financial management and internal audit communities across all federal departments and agencies. Several of these programs encourage the attainment of professional certification.

We offer two developmental programs for recent university graduates:

Our Financial Officer Recruitment and Development/Internal Auditor Recruitment and Development (FORD/IARD) Program offers recent graduates top-notch training and work experience in finance or auditing within the federal public service.

Our Chartered Accountant Student Training (CAST) Program provides university graduates with first-class training and public sector work experience to qualify as chartered accountants. This pilot project currently enables graduates to meet the profession’s requirements in Ontario.
